What is McTimoney Chiropractic?
What is McTimoney Chiropractic?
McTimoney Chiropractic was founded by John McTimoney over 50 years ago. It is well known for being a gentle, precise, whole-body approach to chiropractic care. The gentle nature of the McTimoney method, makes it especially suitable for people of all ages.
Chiropractic means 'done by hand', and we aim to restore normal function to the skeleton which may have become disturbed over time by any activity which is not balanced, incorrect lifting, car or sporting accidents, falls, stress and poor posture.
Can Chiropractic help you?
The following conditions can benefit from chiropractic care:
- Back, neck and shoulder pain
- Pain, discomfort and stiffness in joints
- Migraine
- Sports injuries
- Arthritic Pain
What to expect on your first visit
The first treatment consists of three parts:
- Taking your medical history, including lifestyle and habits.
- Physical Examination, including neurological and orthopaedic testing to form a working diagnosis and a treatment plan suited to your needs, which will be discussed before any treatment.
- A McTimoney Chiropractic treatment, or referral if needed.
How many sessions are needed?
The number of sessions needed varies, depending on:
- Your age and general state of health
- The nature of the problem
- How long you have had the problem
Usually, you will have between 4-6 treatments at weekly intervals, by which time some noticeable changes should have occurred. Following this initial stage, the treatments can become more widely spaced out to every 2 weeks, 3 weeks, monthly and so on. It is recommended to keep regular check-ups once the problem has resolved to keep the body functioning well. The follow-up treatments take 30 minutes.
